Bois Noirci
Charred cedar from the Aubrac plateau, smoked over hay. Top: bergamot, black pepper. Heart: burnt cedar, oud. Base: labdanum, ambergris.
Read the chapterA private perfumery for collectors, hosted by master perfumers Élise Marchand and Sofia Renault. Each composition is bottled in editions of no more than forty, then signed by hand and shipped from the Paris atelier.
Each composition begins with a place. Then a memory of weather. Then the smallest possible cast of materials. We finish a perfume only when nothing further can be removed without losing the room it was built for.

Read the chapterA winter chapel after midnight mass. Top: frankincense, white pepper. Heart: orris, cool iris. Base: birch tar, cashmeran, cold suede.

Read the chapterWe do not brief outside houses, and we do not buy ready-made accords. Every material is sourced under our own contracts, then aged, decanted and finished under our own roof. Eight months is the average time from harvest to bottle. Some chapters take twice that.
We travel to the source. Cedar from the Aubrac, iris from Florence, oud from Hainan. Materials are selected at origin, then sealed and labelled by the grower before shipping.
Raw materials rest in alcohol for sixteen weeks. Each week, Élise notes the change in character. The accord is built only after the materials have settled into themselves.
Bottles are filled, capped and signed by hand at the Paris atelier. Each carries an edition number, a date of bottling and the perfumer's mark. Forty per chapter, never more.
A perfume is finished the moment a single drop says everything the room needed.
Visits are reserved for collectors and members of the journal. Write to the concierge at least two weeks before your stay. We will host you for a private appointment with the perfumer.
