Ledger

Financial broadsheet / editorial system.

Ledger is a financial broadsheet for people who price the open, set on cream newsprint with near-black ink and a press-red accent used like a rubber stamp. The hero is the typographic-masthead preset: Playfair Display Black at 128px between double rules, no image, no glyph, no gradient. Hairlines, bylines, and footnotes carry the layout; tabular numerals carry the trust. Print discipline ported to a screen, and the only brand in the library that reads like a newspaper.

Print discipline for a screen-only world. Ledger is a working broadsheet for people who price the open: filed by analysts, edited by traders, delivered before the bell. Every column carries a byline. Every number carries a footnote. The visual identity borrows from the morning paper: cream stock, halftone dot texture, double-rule dividers, a red accent that only marks what matters.

Anatomy

Fictional newsprint-editorial broadsheet for traders and analysts. The hero is a typographic masthead: Playfair Display Black at 128px sitting between two double-rules on a cream paper field. No image, no glyph, no gradient; the typography IS the hero. Proves that an editorial broadsheet identity can carry a landing on type alone.

Hero composition

a centered editorial masthead. Above the headline sits a small kicker eyebrow framed by single hairline rules ('MORNING EDITION · APRIL 14, 2026 · FILED 04:37 ET') with red accent dots between segments. Below the kicker, a double-rule divider (2px over 0.5px). Then the headline itself: Playfair Display Black at clamp(64px, 8vw, 128px), line-height 0.95, with the second line set in italic 700 ('machine-readable.'). A second double-rule below, then the standfirst in PT Serif at 19px, then two CTAs (a square solid button and a ghost link). A faint halftone dot texture (8px grid, 3.5% opacity, multiply blend) sits over the entire hero field on cream #F0EAD6.
